Description: This course is the perfect follow on to the ‘Get That Novel Started’ course, where students can continue the momentum now built as they strive towards the completion of their first draft.
Again, suitable for writers with projects underway or those looking for a fresh injection of inspiration, and is applicable for all genres and those looking to develop short stories.
Course Outline: In a warm, fun and inspiring environment, and amongst fellow creatives, you will put into practice the lessons learnt in the ‘Get That Novel Started’ course – character, structure, discipline, plot, theme, drama, the creation of ideas, point of view, location, editing, rewrites, delivery, the all-important strong, dramatic and satisfying conclusion – and begin to accelerate your project toward having a solid and complete first draft.
You will begin to produce structured blocks of work, sharing it with your fellow students to build your story’s framework, in the process developing your critiquing skills and the necessary thick skin all writers must have. And over the six weeks, you will further develop a writer’s work ethic and discipline to make your goals happen, seeing remarkable results each day.
At the end of the course, you will be well on the way to having a solid first draft. It may take more time/further sessions to get there, but the finish line will now clearly be in sight.
Are there any course requirements? Yes, you’ll need basic written English skills to benefit from it and access to the internet for the exchange of homework/assessments etc.
Is previous creative writing experience required? Yes - a project that is underway. To all beginners - I’d love to work with you on your goals/projects, and the ‘Get That Novel Started’ course will be a better introductory option 😊
Are there any other costs? No.
Is there anything I need to bring? Please bring your own writing materials – pens, pencils, paper etc.
