Hi, my name is Dominic Canty and I’m an author, creative writing coach and mentor with over twenty-years experience

Working 1-2-1, I will guide, inspire and ensure you achieve your writing goals in a warm, supportive and encouraging way.

Via any combination of in depth and insightful critiques (up to 2,000 words per session) and/or one hour Zoom sessions, these sessions are tailored to improve your overall technique and ability to deliver a rich, compelling and unputdownable piece of work.

From first idea to building chapters, to elevating an existing plot to getting your manuscript ready for submission to literary agents and publishers, we can work in an engaging, inspiring and fun way to ensure you achieve your desired results.

So, what aspects would you like to work on - to simply get started, one chapter at a time? Or to develop your plot threads? Or your protagonist’s backstory? Or to layer in more drama, tension or jeopardy?

I’m seasoned in all aspects and a very positive coach, encouraging you at every stage whilst conveying any aspects you need to know to make your writing even better. And by seeing your idea build into the short story or novel you desire, you will be spurred onwards to build a delightful momentum. To assist you with this is both my passion and field of expertise.

And, by working with me, you will factor in accountability, i.e., a weekly, fortnightly or monthly deadline by which to send in your latest work for critiquing; a vital discipline to ensure you achieve your mini-goals and that your writing project happens.

How does it work?

I work with many students either weekly, fortnightly or sometimes monthly to suit your schedule, though the more regular we can work together, the better.

Suitability?

These sessions are perfect for writers of all abilities - beginners, intermediates, seasoned writers looking for a fresh injection of inspiration. And for writers of novels and short stories of all genres.

How flexible are the sessions?

Very. My schedule is flexible by design and students often vary their session times each week, fortnight or month, whilst others stick to a fixed time.

Are the sessions intense?

No. They are designed to be easy going, relaxed and fun, for that is when we produce our best work. Of course, I wish for you to learn as much as possible, and that ethos is delivered in a warm, supportive and encouraging environment.

How much does it cost?

There are two options:

1/ A block of ten x 1 hour sessions consisting of any combination of critiques (up to 2,000 words) or one hour Zoom sessions costs a total price of £237 (i.e., £23.70 per session)

2/ As above, this time a block of 15 for £299 (i.e., £19.93 per session) *BEST VALUE*

How long do my credits last for? Six months from the date of booking.

What are the advantages of 1-2-1 sessions?

100% focus on your work, as opposed to being in a group. There are, of course, wonderful advantages of being in a group (the sharing of ideas, experiences, and the inspiration of being in the company of fellow writers). However, via 1-2-1 coaching, students see a greater development of their project and themselves as a writer.
