It allows us to tailor our working together towards whatever aspects you wish and are necessary. From first idea to completed first draft, character development, backstories, plot growth, brainstorming for new ideas, plot and character arc developments, techniques for keeping you as productive as possible, techniques for capturing and harnessing the ideas which often arrive at 3am (for me too) etc.

The list of aspects is, as we know, broad, yet I say that in a positive way, for once we begin working on these elements, they all begin to entwine in the richest way. And I can cover every and any aspect of the story development process,

I work with a large number of students - predominantly via Zoom - to ensure a) we keep your writing momentum going, b) you achieve your goals, and c) you grow, develop and reach your potential as a writer. We can work on whatever aspect of writing is foremost in your mind, and I will always ensure you get maximum value from each session.

I also hasten to add - my working schedule is flexible by design and students often vary their slots each week, though others stick to a fixed weekly time. It’s designed to be easy going, relaxed, fun (in that frame of mind, we produce our best work) whilst being focused on delivering the results you will be hiring me to deliver.

FAQ

How does it work? Firstly, we can arrange an initial free thirty-minute Zoom chat to discuss what you’re looking to achieve.

Then, you send me a piece of writing which I will critique then email back to you. Or we have a Zoom to, for example, brainstorm what could happen/what needs to happen in the story for it to begin working.

How much does it cost? My rate is £40 per hour, though I hasten to add, this covers my thoughts, ideas, planning etc. behind the scenes in readiness for the upcoming sessions, so it covers way more than just the face-to-face time we would have. And I usually critique around two-thousand words in an hour, just to give you an idea of how much you could send me.

Most students book in blocks of four (4 x £40 = £160), six (6 x £40 = £240), or ten (10 x £40 = £400) sessions, which can be used as required. E.G., four sessions could be used as two x one hour Zoom sessions and two x 2,500 word critiques (max), or three x critiques and one x Zoom session.

How do I pay? Via PayPal so you have full customer protection. Should you not have a PayPal account, BACS transfer is available upon request.

How long do my credits last for? Six months from the date of booking

What are the advantages of 1-2-1 sessions?

100% focus entirely on your work, as opposed to being diluted in the group-learning environment. (* There are, of course, wonderful advantages of being in a group - the sharing of ideas and experiences etc - so it is often after having initially completed a beginner’s course, or simply not having the time to attend a course, that students go for the 1-2-1 option.)
